Previously, passengers needing to check in for their flights had to do so at the airport due to restrictions on carry-on baggage associated with basic economy tickets. Staff verification was necessary to ensure that no unauthorized luggage accompanied these fare-holders.
User Fees Enforced For Carry-On Baggage
This policy update introduces a safety net against passengers attempting to sneak additional luggage onboard. To facilitate this, travelers checking in online must provide card details and consent to an automatic $65 fee if they attempt to bring extra bags past security. The airline will pre-authorize this charge following take-off.
Diligently during check-in, passengers will specify their expected number of bags upfront as part of this revised procedure.
