Expansion of TSA PreCheck: New Airlines Join the Program
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is enhancing its TSA PreCheck initiative by incorporating two additional international airlines into the program. Travelers who are enrolled in TSA PreCheck can now enjoy expedited security screening when flying with Caribbean Airlines and RED Air, as announced by the agency.
Understanding TSA PreCheck Benefits
With this addition, over 100 airlines are now part of the Trusted Traveler program. According to a statement from the TSA, “Passengers must ensure that their boarding pass displays the TSA PreCheck indicator before arriving at security checkpoints to confirm eligibility for expedited screening.” The agency also noted that most travelers utilizing this service typically wait less than 10 minutes in dedicated lanes across airports nationwide.
About Caribbean Airlines and RED Air
Caribbean Airlines operates out of Trinidad and Tobago and is co-owned by both Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. The airline services various destinations throughout the Caribbean as well as North and South America, including major U.S. cities such as Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, New York City, and Puerto Rico.
On the other hand, RED Air commenced operations in 2021 from its base in the Dominican Republic. This airline aims to provide convenient travel options within Latin America.
Simplified Security Process for Approved Travelers
Travelers who successfully enroll in TSA PreCheck can enjoy several conveniences during security checks: they may keep their shoes on along with light jackets and belts while also leaving laptops and liquids inside their bags. To become a member of this program, individuals need to complete an online application followed by an in-person interview; once approved, membership lasts for five years.
A Family-Friendly Program
The program also accommodates families; children can accompany parents or guardians who hold a valid TSA PreCheck membership into designated lanes.
A Growing Community of Enrolled Travelers
This August marked a significant achievement for TSA PreCheck as enrollment surpassed 20 million travelers—a record milestone reflecting its growing popularity among frequent flyers.
Additions to International Airline Participation
The TSA continues to expand its list of participating airlines regularly; notable recent additions include Aer Lingus from Ireland, Air New Zealand from down under, La Compagnie—an all-business class carrier—and Spain’s Iberia airline.
