Roblox Access Suspended in Turkey Amid Safety Concerns
The Turkish authorities have restricted access to Roblox, following an investigation that uncovered potentially harmful content for children. Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç emphasized that, “In accordance with our Constitution, it is the responsibility of our State to implement necessary protective measures for the welfare of our children,” as stated in a post on X, translated via machine.
Status Update on Roblox’s Unblocking Efforts
The timeline for when Roblox may regain access within Turkey remains uncertain. The company acknowledged the blockade on August 7 and expressed its commitment to resolving this situation. “We were informed about the restriction placed on Roblox in Türkiye and are actively working to clarify the matter with hopes of a swift resolution,” their statement noted on their official website. “We recognize that millions engage with our platform daily in Turkey, including numerous developers whose enterprises depend heavily on Roblox.”
This situation highlights ongoing concerns regarding online child safety and regulatory measures enforced by governments worldwide.
