“On May 26, an important event took place when a nine-minute video began circulating online—a recording showing the fatal encounter between a Black Minneapolis resident and a white police officer,” writes Trump. While Floyd was killed on May 25, 2020, Darnella Frazier shared footage of his death on Facebook and Instagram at 1:46 AM on May 26.
A few sentences later, she again references Floyd indirectly: “Following his tragic death, the dismissal of all four officers involved did not diminish public demands for justice.”
Trump proceeds to express her disapproval of the protests that erupted in response to his killing and critiques what she describes as “divisive rhetoric from Black Lives Matter leaders.” She recounts her experience during the demonstration outside the White House on May 29, 2020, including taking refuge in a bunker. Notably, while she allocates three paragraphs to discussing Floyd’s murder itself, over three pages are dedicated to detailing the protest that occurred later.
