Singapore Airlines to Launch Upgraded First Class Experience by 2026
In an exciting development for travelers, Singapore Airlines is set to enhance its first class offerings on the world’s longest flight route. The airline has announced a significant investment exceeding $800 million to introduce a new first class cabin across its fleet of seven Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft. This aircraft operates the nearly 19-hour journey from New York to Singapore.
Comprehensive Cabin Overhaul
The upcoming upgrades will not only feature luxurious first class seats but will also include new long-haul cabin products with advanced in-flight entertainment systems throughout the Airbus A350-900 fleet. Additionally, both premium economy and economy seating will receive modernized designs aimed at improving passenger comfort.
“Over the last six years, we have actively collaborated with our customers and stakeholders in crafting our next-generation long-haul cabin products,” stated Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines. “We are committed to meeting their evolving needs and expectations with meticulous attention to detail.”
A Focus on Comfort and Luxury
The redesigned First Class and Business Class seats are expected to incorporate innovative features that redefine comfort and luxury while providing an environment conducive for relaxation or productivity during flights. Passengers traveling in Premium Economy and Economy classes can also anticipate refreshed interiors that promise an enhanced travel experience.
Timeline for Implementation
The rollout of these new cabins is anticipated to commence in the second quarter of 2026, with full completion projected by late 2030. Upon finalization of this retrofit project, Singapore Airlines plans to offer a total of 42 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 192 economy seats on its A350-900 long-haul aircraft. For the A350-900ULR models servicing routes from the U.S., there will be four first class seats alongside 70 business class seats and 58 premium economy options.
