Over 230 medical professionals, including doctors and nurses, are urging former President Trump to disclose his medical records following a similar action by Vice President Kamala Harris.
In an open letter dated October 13, which was first highlighted by CBS News, these healthcare providers express their concerns regarding Trump’s age and advocate for transparency about his health status and medical history as he approaches 78 years old.
The letter states, “On August 20, Donald Trump expressed that he would ‘very gladly’ release his medical records. However, in the 55 days since that statement, no such disclosure has occurred.” It continues to highlight that without recent health updates from Trump, observers must rely on public appearances for insight into his fitness for office—an area where they find him lacking.
The signatories of the letter predominantly support Harris’s presidential campaign. They note that during campaign events, Trump tends to “ramble and lash out at perceived grievances,” raising questions about whether these behaviors may stem from cognitive decline associated with aging.
HARRIS CHALLENGES TRUMP TO DISCLOSE MEDICAL RECORDS FOLLOWING HER OWN HEALTH REPORT
“The American populace deserves assurance regarding the mental and physical capabilities of their elected officials,” the letter asserts. “Given Trump’s advancing age, he should prioritize transparency concerning his health.”
This appeal coincides with Harris’s push for Trump to reveal his health information after a recent White House announcement confirmed her own “excellent health.”
WHITE HOUSE CLARIFIES BIDEN’S PHYSICIAN MEETING REGARDING PRESIDENT’S CARE
The statement from Harris’s physician also noted her most recent annual physical took place in April this year. During the 2016 election cycle, Trump shared details of his health records publicly; however, despite promising updated disclosures as the 2024 election nears—specifically stating this intention during an interview with CBS News—he has yet to follow through with those promises just weeks before Election Day.
“He refuses to release his medical records,” Harris remarked during a podcast interview with Roland Martin on Monday morning. She criticized Trump’s avoidance of a second debate and questioned why he had not participated in an interview with CBS’s ”60 Minutes,” which is traditionally expected of presidential candidates.
WHITE HOUSE RELEASES MEDICAL REPORT ON VP KAMALA HARRIS
“Perhaps they believe he’s unprepared or unstable and should not be granted such transparency before the American people,” suggested Harris.
The Trump campaign countered by highlighting instances where he voluntarily provided updates on his health status in previous years—including sharing a report from a July screening, conducted by Dr. Ronny Jackson—a former White House physician who is now a GOP congressman—following an assassination attempt against him.
“All assessments have concluded [Trump] is in excellent condition to serve as Commander-in-Chief,” stated Steven Cheung from Trump’s campaign team while emphasizing Trump’s rigorous campaigning schedule compared to what they described as Harris’s lighter commitments due to perceived stamina issues.
In response to comments made about her health statement on social media platforms by Trump himself labeled it “really bad.” He added: “With all her issues at hand there are serious doubts about whether she should be running for President! MY REPORT IS PERFECT – NO PROBLEMS!!!”
