Nintendo to Launch Playtest for New Switch Online Feature
Nintendo has revealed plans to conduct a playtest this month for an intriguing new feature related to the Nintendo Switch Online service.
The Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program is set to commence on October 24 and will continue until November 6.
While details remain scarce, Nintendo has indicated that this playtest pertains to “a new feature for the Nintendo Switch Online service.”
To participate, individuals must hold a subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Additionally, participants will need to download specific “exclusive software” onto their own Nintendo Switch consoles.
Interested users can apply for the playtest by visiting the Application Page linked in this blog post.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a registered Nintendo Account from one of the following countries: Japan, USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain.
Nintendo anticipates accepting up to 10,000 participants but warns that applications may close early if this limit is reached sooner than expected.
Rumors Surrounding Next-Gen Console Intensify
In other news, speculation regarding a potential successor to the current console is heating up. Recent leaks have purportedly unveiled design images of what could be called the Nintendo Switch 2.
A series of approximately twelve images surfaced online in September and are believed to showcase what appears as an enlarged version of the original model with an expanded display area.
No official announcement about this next-generation console has been made yet; however, it has been confirmed that more information will be shared before year-end. This suggests that we might see a launch as early as 2025.
