The action camera market is heating up as recent leaks reveal significant details about the upcoming DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, just a day after exciting information surfaced about the GoPro Hero 13 Black. This new leak positions the Osmo Action 5 Pro as a strong competitor in this dynamic segment.
Recent images of packaging shared by @JasperEllens on X (previously known as Twitter) seem to validate earlier speculations from July. It appears that DJI will maintain a similar structure to its previous model, implementing a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with an f/2.8 aperture and a wide field of view at 155 degrees—however, indications suggest this sensor has been completely revamped.
While some specifications remain intact, it’s unclear why DJI has labeled this model with the ‘Pro’ designation. One standout feature highlighted on the packaging is an ”extended battery life” that claims up to four hours of usage—an impressive upgrade considering our review of its predecessor noted its battery life was merely average.
An additional highlight could be the inclusion of enhanced audio recording capabilities via DJI Mic connectivity; however, it remains ambiguous how this might differ from what was already available in Action 4. Previously, users could connect their original DJI Mic receiver through the USB-C port for audio input—a detail that raises questions about potential improvements or simple refinements in functionality.
