Exciting New Features for TikTok Direct Messaging: Group Chats and More
Recently, TikTok has unveiled several enhancements to its direct messaging system, including the much-anticipated addition of group chats. Owned by ByteDance, the platform has made it clear that while not all users will have immediate access to this feature, those who do can connect in groups of up to 32 participants.
How to Initiate a Group Chat
You can kick off a group chat through two straightforward methods. First, navigate to your inbox and tap on the “Chat” button located at the top of the screen or select a friend’s name within your message list. From there, click on “More options…” This action allows you to choose friends you want in the group before hitting “Start group chat.”
The second way involves sharing a particular post with multiple people. If there’s a video you’d like to discuss with friends, simply tap on the “Share” button and choose “Create group chat.” Select your desired contacts and feel free to add an accompanying message before diving into conversations about the video.
Accepting Invites and User Restrictions
If you receive invites for group chats, you can accept them directly from your inbox. It’s important to note that invitations can only be sent out to individuals whom you mutually follow. Additionally, certain age restrictions apply: users between 13 and 15 are not eligible for group chats at all. For users aged 16 or 17 years old wishing to join one of these conversations, they must already share at least one mutual connection with other members in that chat. Those creating their own groups will also need to approve each new participant manually.
Creative Engagement Through Custom Stickers
TikTok is also introducing custom stickers for direct messages—an innovative way for users to express themselves visually when communicating! You have the option of designing unique stickers that anyone within your messaging circles can utilize.
This fresh set of updates aims not only at enhancing user interaction but also promoting creativity through visual communication tools as TikTok continues evolving its social networking capabilities.
