“Launching ‘VCs for Democracy’,” tweeted Leslie Feinzaig, who serves as the founder and general partner at Graham & Walker, in late July. “Who wants to join?”
Rapid Expansion of Support
Unexpectedly, over 1,300 tech professionals rallied around this initiative, which soon became known as VCs for Kamala. In an energetic Zoom session last Wednesday that attracted up to 600 participants, this coalition successfully raised $150,000 aimed at bolstering Vice President Kamala Harris’ candidacy.
Fundraising Highlights
Approximately $100,000 originated from 97 individual donors. Additionally, Ron Conway—founder and managing partner of SV Angel—contributed another $50,000 through a matching donation to inspire further giving during the event.
A Solid Foundation for Growth
This effort was not entirely new; the group had previously garnered around $25,000 during its initial outreach focused on enticing venture capitalists to add their backing.
