Phil Hart, an Australian photographer, clinched the top accolade with his remarkable photograph (shown below) capturing the 2023 solar eclipse over Exmouth, Western Australia. This image stands out as one of the highest-resolution (white light) depictions of the solar corona ever recorded, showcasing astonishing detail achieved through a combination of telescopes, video frames, and RAW exposures.
“This year’s competition showcased some of the most extraordinary astrophotography we’ve encountered,” remarked judge Dr. Tanya Hill. “Phil Hart’s work was a masterclass in skill and innovation, revealing subtle lunar features alongside the delicate streams of the solar corona.”
